SYS TEC has developed a system that makes sub-structures in the field level possible. Usually, expansion of CAN networks is locally limited. The CAN Ethernet Gateway was developed for bridging greater distances, for coupling sub-networks, for utilization of existing Ethernet topologies and for accessing the Internet.
A software driver for the PC is also available to enable access to distant CAN networks using TCP/IP. A complete transparent communication of CAN-messages between this virtual gateway and the CAN Ethernet gateway makes no restrictions on the protocol used on CAN-bus. So CAN messages are "tunneled" over Ethernet from the PC into a CAN network or from a CAN network into another CAN network. This communication can be extended to the Internet.
Service access to individual CAN nodes is particularly important for downloads and setting parameters via the Internet. A high-performance yet reliable protocol is used for communication via Ethernet. Time-stamps for each CAN message ensures that all messages are sent in right order and timing. |
